The Project: “The Chrono-Viewer: Media Edition”

The Story:

An inventor has created a time machine known as the Chrono-Viewer, which utilizes accelerated neutrino particles to generate tachyons. By manipulating the tachyon field, the Chrono-Viewer pod can travel through time. The Chrono-Viewer is piloted by an AI pilot known as Cleo, who acts as your guide through time.

The mission of the Chrono-Viewer is to travel through time and bring the media of the past back into the present. The human mind is easily forgetful. Once something falls out of sight, it often falls out of mind. The world is full of movies, TV shows, video games, books, and music that were once known but have fallen out of the public consciousness. The Chrono-Viewer’s mission is to bring all this media back for new generations to discover.

The Concept:

At the heart of the Chrono-Viewer program is a massive database that feeds the events we show on the program. It is a database that is constantly growing and evolving. I have endeavored to collect every title and person worth mentioning in media history. This includes actors, albums, authors, bands, books, concerts, directors, movies, music artists, songs, TV/streaming series, and video games. 

A friend of mine has created a good launching point by creating automated Python scripts to search the Internet to create this database. (If you’re interested in my friend's services, you’ll find his information below.) That list was a good start, and I’ve been adding and fine-tuning it ever since. The list will evolve and grow with time, resulting in better-curated content for you. 

Along with collecting the event, I’ve also been collecting the dates for each event. This gives me the power to do one of the most thorough “On this date in media history” lists online. 

Every episode will pick 24 temporal events that occurred on the selected episode date. The episode will focus on anniversaries landing on a multiple of five. That’s any event that occurred on this date exactly 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, or 100 years ago.

Why only 24? That’s a reasonable number of results for a standard episode. I could easily create an episode that lists absolutely everything, but would you really want to click on an hour-long episode?

So, I’ll cap each episode at 24 events and instead make more episodes. How many more? Well, that’s purely up to you and the financial support you provide. Each episode takes time to produce, and my resources are limited. With the help of viewers like you, I can create the resources I need to make more episodes. 

As of right now, this is the planned production schedule. I will produce a primary episode every 5 days. That’s six episodes a month. (1st-5th, 6th-10th, 11th-15th, 16th-20th, 21st-25th, and 26th-the rest of the month.) Once the primary episodes are done for the month, additional episodes can be created to supplement the primary episodes. As time and resources permit, you may see a “Deep Dive” episode the day after the primary episode, or even a “Deeper Dive” episode the day after. The number of episodes I get to complete is ultimately in your hands with the resources you give me.

What does the project need?

  • Funding: Along with every other Majestic Media Project, your funding is the primary resource that gives us the freedom to create. 

  • Producers: To start out with, it’s only me, but eventually, I’d like to hire a producer or two to help me create more episodes. By adding one more producer, I can instantly double the number of episodes we provide for you. Eventually, I will have to step back from this project to focus on the other projects you greenlight, so a second supplemental producer will eventually be needed.

Often referred to as Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon,” when I say you get to play the six degrees game with the database, I task you with selecting a movie and ensuring that every notable actor in that movie is on the list. Then, take every one of those actors and ensure that every movie and TV show they’ve ever been a part of is in the database. Then keep going.

Identify the connections that enable you to expand the database by incorporating additional data. With your help, the list will grow and evolve.
