The Project: “Modern Tall Tales”

The Status: Planning

The Story:

Do you know a story that is told in your town? The story about what happened at that one house, or the story about what happens when you go walking alone in those woods. A tall tale that sits somewhere between reality and fiction? Do you think you’re good at making up such stories? Tell me a story.

The Concept:

Have you ever seen one of those shows with the dramatized recreations of an event? Unsolved Mysteries, Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction?

You, the viewer, submit to me a story from where you live that may or may not be true, and I’ll try to recreate the experience in a 10-15 minute story.

What does the project need?

• Funding: Along with every other Majestic Media Project, funding from you is the primary resource that gives us the freedom to create. This one is even more so, because with sets, actors, and a full production, this project will end up having a higher price tag than most of the other projects on my list.

• Producers and Actors: This would be a project I’d need help with. So many possibilities the stories could contain. It could happen in the woods, in a desert, or at home… This project is going to require an actual crew of actors…I’m thinking 10 or 12 of them. Monty Python style, where each episode you’re playing a different character, but it's the same set of actors that you get to know throughout the series. I’ll need a producer who is willing to direct a full production.

Curator Benefits:

As a curator, if you submit one of these tall tales, your story will be sent to the front of the line. A summary of the first ten tall tales in the line will be presented to the curators, who can then vote on which tales you deem worthy of an episode.
