The Project: “The Dire Realm”
The Status: In Pre-Production
The Story:
The Emperor has died, and the Dire Realm has fallen into shadow. In the traditions of the land, the ten Kingdoms of Arru, Arcadia, Avalon, Elysium, Malakut, Opona, Pialral, Shangdu, Thule, & Uhlanga must compete in a battle of honor to determine which king will take the throne as the new emperor.
The Concept:
The Dire Realm is a card game designed for 2-10 people to play. Your goal is to collect a complete set of ten cards before any of your opponents do. But you’re only allowed to hold ten cards at a time. So it’s a game of trades and trickery. Will you be able to sabotage your opponents, or will they end up sabotaging you? Are you going to be able to make all the trades you need before your opponents figure out which cards you’re after? This game requires strategy and deception. Will you become the new emperor of the Dire Realm?
What does the project need?
Funding: Along with every other Majestic Media Project, funding from you is the primary resource that gives us the freedom to create.
Production Funding: Once the game starts selling, the profits can be used to produce more copies of the game; however, the initial printing of the game cards will incur a cost. Once the game is self-sustaining, however, its profits will be used to fund additional projects.
Beta Testers: I believe I have ironed out all the flaws, but you should never overlook the craftiness of the average player. I need people to play the game. Play it a couple of times to get the feel for it by the rules I designed. Then, when you’re ready, play the game your way. Make up your own house rules, cheat, try to break the game in any way you can. Identify all the loopholes so I can either close them or incorporate them into the game to improve it.
